You often hear about successful business ideas that are started from a garage, or a kitchen table. This story is no different.... On an early summer afternoon in 2014, and after filming The Celebrity Apprentice, actor Ian Ziering approached businessman Mitchell Felton. Ian wanted to figure out how he could capitalize on some of the publicity that he was generating from his projects. After a few minutes of conversation and brainstorming, Mitchell told Ian that he had to come up with something that was marketable, brand-able, and relatable to what he was doing. After a couple more hours of backyard cocktails and conversation, and about fifty failed joint-attempts, Ian threw out the concept of a chainsaw as a brand and a logo, yikes! An hour-long discussion of chainsaw possibilities ensued and the two agreed to get back to each other if something could be figured out.
About a month later, Ian called Mitchell from a Disney premier of Jake and the Neverland Pirates with three magical words that were not “I love you.,” They were close. The words were “I have it!” Take two chainsaws and cross them over like a pirates flag. Then, make them in different colors, and put logos of sports teams and corporations in the middle of them, and see what you come up with.” Within a few hours, the designs were ready. The rest of the story is now history. It was the right time, the right place, the right people, and the fun was about to start.
